Sometimes it becomes necessary to remove a tooth. The some of the reasons for this could be: a vertical tooth fracture, extensive decay, failed root canal therapy, necessary removal for orthodontics, or wisdom teeth removal.
Prior to removal of a tooth, Dr. Mudrow will review all or your options, including the replacement of the potentially missing tooth, if he will be doing the surgery or if there should be a referral to a specialist and the optimal time frame for removal. Once everything has been reviewed and it is your decision to remove a tooth, the appointment will be made. This is a very big decision so if you have any concerns it is important to discuss it with us prior to your surgical appointment.
Once a tooth has been removed, neighboring teeth may shift, causing problems with chewing or with your jaw joint function. In such cases, Dr. Mudrow will recommend that you replace the extracted tooth with a fixed or removable bridge or an implant supported crown.
